Sikkim has numerous peaks,some are climed before,some are still virgin and the others are considered sacred for the people of Sikkim.Khanchendzonga the third highest peak in the world(8586 meters) is one of sacred peaks and the people of Sikkim worship it.
The two principle mountain ranges are the razor edged Singalila on the western border between Sikkim and Nepal and the Chola on the east between Sikkim and Tibet.Most of the peaks are above 5800 meters.
However ,Government of Sikkim has opened five trekking peaks for climbing with certain term and condition .Frey?s Peak Chaurigang(5830 meters), Lama Angden (5868 meters), Mt.Tinchengkhang(5603 meters), Mt. Joponu (6010 meters),Brumkhangse(5635 meters).The permit for Expedition to above five peaks is issued by the Home Department to only those local tour operators Registered and Recognized by Tourism Department.
